We will be setting up the hill for the 2019 season on Saturday 9th March. We will start around 08:30 and are usually done by lunch time.
We need your help. There are manu jobs large and small that we need your help with.
So if you could spare an hour or two on Saturday morning, please come down. If you have a spare spade and brush, please bring that too.
We’ll have tea and coffee available too.
We are pleased to officially announce the renewal in 2019 of both our major sponsors.
The 2019 Gurston Down Championship is being sponsored by The Meadens Motor Group and the Top Ten Challenge will be sponsored by Cavendish Ships Stores.
We thank them for their contunued support.
Gurston Down Speed Hill Climb Test Day 2019, will be Sunday 24 March 2019.
Applications for Test Day entries are open now and will CLOSE on February 28th.
Applications by e-mail only. Please e-mail Nick Revels at email@example.com to be added to the list. Indicate if there is a double driver please.
The number of drivers will be limited to 60. For smoother running, cars will run in three batches of 20, in rotation. Double drivers will run in different batches.
The price will be held at £105. Cars driven by two drivers will pay £165.
If we receive more than 60 driver applications, a ballot will be held. Nick will inform you in the first week of March if you have been successful, and will send out entry forms and regulations at that time.
Budgie sadly passed away at the end of October. A regular around the South & Midlands hillclimbs, as well as some circuits. Normally found loitering on the Gurston Down start line, a true character & happy chappy who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Chris was a key member of our startline team, he had a wealth of experience regarding speed marshaling and was always willing to help new marshals, driver marshalls or indeed experience marshals to understand the roll of a startline marshal.
He always had time to chat and although illness kept him out of orange for the last few seasons when health allowed he would be seen spectating. It would be wrong of us to claim budgie as our own, because he was very much a part of the hillclimb scene.
His funeral will be held on 28th November at 12:15pm. This will take place at :-
All Hallows Road
If anyone wishes to attend can you please pm Alan Osgood so He can inform his family of numbers.
